Carnival, Wakes and Festival Showtime.

Hello, everyone.
Weather a bit miserable here. We have had St. Swithen’s Day haven’t we! But the forecast is good for this weekend for the Youlgreave Carnival. The Well-dressings have been celebrated in the village, and was well attended. Winster Carnival, Wakes and Secret Gardens have happened. The YNot Music festival is happening and preparations are well advanced for the internationally recognised Bakewell Show on August 3rd and 4th. WELL WORTH a visit. Great entertainment and lots of attractions. Have you booked your tickets yet? August 5th brings the last night of the proms to Haddon Hall, and Abba and the Rat Pack tribute bands are at Chatsworth in August , also. Lots of music. Following week is the Ashover Show.

What is happening here? well, as I ssaid weather is a bit miserable, but the gardener is trying his best to keep everything tidy in between ducking for cover. The inspector is due shortly, so, everything must be spick and span. Ben started to strim the path in the wood, and some signs have been ordered from Chris at Sheldrake.Ben is also putting a fence up as a screen, a new door is being made by Jay, and the painter is hopefully starting soon to paint the barn doors.
Wildlife is in abundance, and the blackcurrants are ready for picking. I missed the red and white currants because of the rain, but the birds had a good feast.
I think the farmer has finished the silaging, so the tractors are less in evidence.
The sunsets and sunrises, when the rain stops , are amazing, and the walkers and cyclists do not appear to be put off by the rain.
Remember, we are a charging point for the Electric Bicycles ( can be hired at Carsington Water and Blakelow Holiday Cottages. )Makes cycling up hills a LOT easier !!!
Don’t forget Bank Holiday is coming soon and at the beginning of September, Chatsworth Show, Wirksworth Music and Arts Festival and Youlgreave Music Event is just around the corner. Book early !!

We have vacancies for all the events in August and September, so please contact us if you would like to visit any of them
Have a great time dodging the rain and enjoying the sun.

Take care and we will talk soon. Christine.
